May as well start out these posts with some technology. We tested karaoke about 5 years ago with a $100 DVD/Karaoke system from Best Buy. It used a propietary format which meant I spent more on CDs than I did on the system in no time. But, it was a hit. So much of a hit that neighbor's parties would bring their entire party over to our party to karaoke.
I also tried a lot of other computer based karaoke packages and even dabbled at making my own (I can give you links on various other items if you're interested). Time begat time and I kept running out of time so I finally looked up a site that was programmed by a friend-of-a-friend who consults for Apple,
karaoke.com. They have a slew of different machines you can buy and, naturally, music. I bought a Cavs SCDG unit. I think they may have taken them off of the market because they tend to overheat, but I think they're the only ones that play the SCDG format. Which means, instead of 20 songs on a disc, I can get ~1000 songs per disc. That means more time singing and less time changing discs. [Karaoke]
